Village Meeting - Thursday 22nd Jan '26

Berwick St James Parish Village Meeting - Thursday 22 Jan '26

Thursday 22 January 2026

at 7:00 o'clock

22nd JANUARY BERWICK VILLAGE MEETING

As you will have read in this month’s Community Matters magazine, we have set a date for our Village Meeting for Thursday 22nd January to be held at the Reading Room starting at 7pm.

a) PRECEPT VOTE

We need to vote and approve the Precept for 2026; a requirement of the village, to confirm by vote, funds that are then requested from Wiltshire Council (raised through Council Tax). This sum is proposed, confirmed by our vote and taxation funds then credited to Berwick St James’s account.

b) TWO GUEST SPEAKERS TALKING ABOUT OUR LOCAL ROAD NETWORKS

We are delighted to confirm that we have secured two speakers whose combined knowledge and understanding of our road networks are second to none. We continue to work closely with other villages and principal players in endeavouring to seek solutions to local traffic problems, so this agenda item is to focus on traffic incidents and the knock-on effects these have on our village as well as the wider area.

Our guest speakers are:

Mr David Bullock, Head of Major Highway Projects for Wiltshire Council. [Previously Project Director for National Highways for the A303 Stonehenge Amesbury to Berwick Down road scheme]

Mr Chris HilldrupNational Highways Route Manager for Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

The format will be an informal 20-25 minute conversation on the subject of issues on our local roads. We hope that as many residents of Berwick St James as possible will take the opportunity to join this key conversation. If you have questions that you wish to highlight in advance, please do email these to us.

c) OTHER AGENDA ITEMS

If you would like to add other items for inclusion in the Agenda, please send them to: [email protected]  by no later than Monday 12th January.  A full Agenda will be sent out a week before the Meeting.

Best wishes,

Julian, Bill and Carolyn
